After graduating from Miami University, where I was president of the Class of 1965, I attended Northwestern Law School and received a JD in 1968. Upon graduating, I volunteered for Navy OCS and served as a gunnery officer on the USS Whetstone, an amphibious assault ship, and participated in four combat operations landing marines on the beach north of DaNang and in the delta. Upon returning to San Diego, I met Janet on Mission Beach, got married six months later, and moved to Chicago where I was a member of the IL Bar. We have three married children and six grandchildren living in Falls Church, VA, San Francisco and San Diego. After working 43 years as a trial lawyer practicing commercial litigation in federal and state courts and agencies in Chicago, I retired on my 70th birthday. We now live in Charlottesville, VA, to be close to our DC grandchildren. Although I am admitted to the VA Bar, my purpose in life until the virus hit was working out at the gym several hours every day and visiting our grandchildren. I still spend a couple hours a day walking my locally famous collie, Jack, around town. Jack is my 7th collie. Stay well.
